Whewwww.. After spending HOURS writing your latest blog post, you’re finally ready to hit publish and when you do, it feels so good! Right? But just because you hit publish and your content is out there for the world to see, doesn’t mean your job is done. The last thing you want after spending allllll that time and energy on crafting the perfect piece of content is for no one to see it, read it, or share it.
So how do you drive traffic to your latest blog post? Let’s dive in!

The Goal: Drive traffic to your blog post, reach a larger audience, and provide a resource to your target audience/client
The How: Optimization and promotion
How to Drive Traffic to Your Latest Blog Post
Optimize, Optimize, Optimize
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, search engine optimization is your best friend. With 3.5 billion+ searches being made on Google every day, optimizing your content will make it recognizable to search engines so that it can come up in search results.
If you’re just starting your journey with optimizing your site, the first step you’ll want to take is installing an SEO plugin on your site. My two favorites are Yoast SEO and All In One SEO – both offer guidelines to help you ensure each of the posts and posts you publish on your site are properly optimized.
Another quick tip for making sure your content is optimized is including the keywords you want to rank for through the content of your site, as well as in your page titles and meta descriptions.
Share Your Content on Social Media
Every time you publish a new blog post, you should be sharing it on social media at least three times. Which social media platforms you share your content on should be based on your analytics and where your ideal client is, as well as the times your audience are most active to ensure your content is seen by the most people.
When creating the captions for your social media posts, make sure to include a breakdown of the highlights from your post, and make adjustments to the length based on the platform you’re posting on.
Utilize Pinterest
Haven’t started utilizing Pinterest for your business yet? You’re missing out!!
With over 300 million active users on Pinterest, sharing your content on the platform can help drive consistent traffic to your site, every single day. Make it even easier for your followers to share your content to Pinterest by embedding pin-it buttons on your images and utilize Tailwind to automate your pins.
Recycle Content
You’ve written content, you’ve published it, and you never have touch it again, right? WRONG! Just because a blog post has been up on your site for a while (even years!) does not mean it’s lost value. Our goal is to work smarter, not harder!
By updating older content and re-publishing it, especially content that is already driving a lot of traffic to your site, you’re able to spend less time working on evergreen content and focus more on making money and being creative.
The same goes for social media as well! Just because you’ve already shared it, doesn’t mean that everyone has seen the content.
Share It With Your Email List
One of the best ways to utilize your email list is to share new content! Whether you send out an email whenever you publish a new post, or do a weekly round-up of recent content on your site, it’s a great way to let your email list know there’s new content on your website without them having to check your blog constantly!
